Top Ten Tuesday: My (mostly) Bookish Goals for 2015

Top Ten Tuesday: This is a meme hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish

I’ve never been one to make a bunch of New Years Resolutions, mostly because I anticipate failing them.  But this year I’m feeling optimistic, so we’ll see how this goes.  I think some of these will be easier than others, since I have accountability through my blog and other communities; plus, I plan on doing a check-up post each month.  So without further ado, here are my top 10 goals.

  1. Read 60  books– Really I want to read over 100 books, but I’ve never really challenged myself to read like this so I’m shooting for 5 a month, and we’ll see what happens.
  2. Finish and Publish my book– This is something I’ve been saying I want to do for a long time, but I’m actually writing and editing it now, which makes it more likely to happen in 2015
  3. Read at least one book outside of my usual genera’s a month– This will probably be a non-fiction leadership type book, but I’ll try for some other styles too, such as contemporary fiction.   Non-Fiction just takes more time for me to finish because I have to process the material to decide what I agree with and disagree with, then on top of that, what I want to apply.  So 12 in a year is probably a good goal for me.
  4. Comment on other blogs at least 3 times a week– Part of the reason I started this was to meet and interact with other book lovers, and I’ve done a bad job of reaching out into the community so far, so I’m going to try to do better this year.
  5. Get through the TBR books I own– I am now up to 4 TBR shelves at my house.  That’s 48 inches of books I own and haven’t read. Not to mention all the Ebooks I have in my nook and kindle.  So this year I’ll probably keep my Netgalley requests to a minimum of a couple of authors and series I’m looking forward to and try to make it through the books I own.
  6. Organize my books– Now that I’m blogging, I realize how disorganized my book collection is.  I’ve always had a bit of a system, but now I need a better one, especially with my Ebooks.  So this year I want to get all the books I own organized and I want to get my Goodreads organized.  I even joined a Book Blog Organization challenge to help. We’ll see how this goes.
  7. Complete 5 Reading challenges–  This will be my first year doing any reading challenges, and there are a lot to choose from.  I picked 13 to participate in, so I’m aiming to finish at least half of them on time, although I think my chances are pretty good considering a lot of them are overlapping.
  8. Join a writing group- I started looking for one a month before NaNoWriMo and then when all the sit-ins started happening, I usually had work commitments at the same time.  So I’m hoping to somehow find one this next year and get connected to other writers.
  9. Do at least one giveaway-  Even though I’ve never won a giveaway, they are fun.  So I think I want to try my own.  Don’t have any more details than that.
  10. Get into my shape-  I want to be healthy. With work and blogging, sitting is all I do in a day and it leaves me feeling years older than I really am.  I know being healthy happens when I keep up with Kick-Boxing and Yoga.  I don’t really want to focus on weight but more on inches, look, and feel.  I got Just Dance 2015 and a Pulse T4, so hopefully those will get me back on the fitness horse.
So these are my (mostly) bookish goals for the year, what are yours?
