Be Kind Please Rewind: December (and 2014)

Be Kind Please Rewind December

I don’t know about you but 2014 was a crazy year for me, and most of it was good crazy.  I settled into a new job, and we did soooooo many changes through the ministry.  Rooms, staff, organization and a bunch of other things that made it a great year and gave us a lot to springboard into 2015, which is always exciting.

I also sold my house this year.  That was a painful process.  after 2 deals fell through because of the government loan they had (grrr). I finally got one to stick, even if it was for way less than it should have cost.

About 6 months after I moved, my sister moved as well.  She knew the job she had wasn’t going to be something she wanted long term, and if she didn’t move now, she may never make it back to Cincinnati, which is where she wants to be.  So she’s still looking for a full time job, but has been getting long-term subs spots while she lives with my parents.  Not perfect, but hopefully something will turn up soon.

I also went on my first major vacation by myself, to Cancun.  It was fun and a good long week of rest, but I don’t know if I would pay that much to go on vacation by myself again.  I did realize how nice it can be to lay on a beach for a week just reading, so next time I’ll probably just rent a place state side and save my money for trips with family and friends.  The other major point of this year was starting this blog.  It’s only been a couple months, but I’m having a lot of fun pushing myself to read.  It’s keeps me from being a couch potato, which was something I wanted to change, and it has made me commit more to my writing, which I’ve been sadly lacking on since my move.

So after a crazy year, December was surprisingly slow in comparison, which isn’t saying much.  I was still driving around getting Christmas presents and such, something I’m still not finished with, which for those of you that know me, that isn’t surprising.  But here are the highlights of December. Hope you had a Merry and Bright one as well!

1)  Binged on Gilmore Girls– My reading really went down this month because I got sucked into the world of the Gilmore’s.  I never really watched the show when it was on.  I watched an episode here and there, especially the early years, but this is my first time watching for the story line.  I have the last season still to watch, but I’m going to pace myself on that one.  Really the middle seasons I think will be my favorite.

2) Secret Santa–  I participated in The Broke and The Bookish Secret Santa exchange this year and loved it.  I got an awesome hull you can check out on my Stacking the Shelves post, and had fun shopping for my Secret Santa.  T  he best part was making a new friend, which makes me excited for next year!

3) Christmas!–  I love Christmas, and this year was great.  I didn’t go as over the top as I usually do for the holidays.  I think our strangely warm weather threw off my groove, but I had fun with my family none the less.  We started a new tradition with my mom’s side of the family where anyone out of college puts their name in a hat and then we draw for who we’re buying from, then you have to guess who drew you.  Next year we anticipate it to be much more cut throat.
